Starting from a big topic from the Public Relations subject in Marketing at UEH, Green Campus was put into a practical project by K47 students called "Trash is not dirty” campaign.

Going beyond the classroom framework, the series lasting nearly 2 months and systematically organized with 3 communication stages: awareness communication, inspirational communication series, and talk shows, has spread to the community and inspired viewers about environmental and waste issues.

The talkshow "Trash is Not Dirty" is part of the campaign with the same name

A large topic by Dr.Dinh Tien Minh

The problem of "Organizing an event with the companionship of many stakeholders" was posed by Dr. Dinh Tien Minh to the Reunion Group (a group of K47 students majoring in Marketing in the Public Relations subject at UEH). Before the idea of the "Trash is Not Dirty" Campaign was born, the Reunion Group also planned to just confine their work to a simulation project. However, the learning process with practical lessons in the field of PR has day by day built up more excitement and necessary skills for the group to boldly step out of their comfort zone and decide to carry out a project on a larger scale, bringing more practical meanings.

Initially, the Reunion Group was also hesitant about coming up with ideas for the "Trash is Not Dirty" campaign until they witnessed a problem right on the campus. Although sustainable activities are constantly communicated to UEH students, especially the UEH Green Campus activity for maximum waste reduction, and students have raised their awareness of waste classification and practiced Green University regulations, somewhere, many of them are still confused and have not consciously classified waste at source. Therefore, "Trash is Not Dirty" was born as a campaign to help UEH students understand the importance of trash classification and environmental protection. Moreover, not just a simulation project, "Trash is Not Dirty" expects to spread positive green values to the young community and gradually impact the next generation to contribute more to green life.

Bringing the PR project to bigger goals

From the perspective of the subject, the Reunion Group conducted research on the waste classification behaviors of UEH students. Understanding the reluctance of students to classify waste because they think it is time-consuming, complicated, and not required everywhere, the campaign team wanted to promote and motivate waste classification for the students.

The main goal of the campaign is to convey the importance of waste classification to the students both at school and at home, as well as encourage people to classify waste while addressing waste classification issues of businesses. "Trash is Not Dirty" will bring a deeper perspective on the journey of trash, where it goes, and the stories of people "attached" to waste in society, thereby inspiring students outside and inside UEH and gradually incorporating waste classification activities into daily life.

Main activities of the "Trash is Not Dirty" Campaign

Regarding the campaign, the "Trash is Not Dirty" took place mainly during the time Public Relations is taught at UEH. It was first introduced on February 1, 2024 on Facebook and included 3 phases. Communication phase: awareness communication, inspirational series communication, and talk shows. The awareness communication phase focuses on propagating knowledge and experience about waste classification at source to UEH students. Regarding the series "Who named the trash?", the three main episodes of the series share stories about people who do trash classification: bottle collection and trash journeys of cleaners at University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City - UEH and on the street.

Thanks to the support of students in this inspirational series, the Talkshow "Trash Is Not Dirty" - the final activity of the campaign attracted a large number of participants and received attention from media agencies and sponsors.

March 9, 2024: "Trash Is Not Dirty" Talkshow

The talkshow "Trash Not Dirty" was the most carefully invested event of the campaign, bringing useful knowledge and sharing about waste and waste classification at source. The major part of the event is the sharing of 2 speakers representing perspectives on Waste Classification from UEH and from external businesses, which helped the student have the most novel and practical knowledge about waste classification. Real and touching stories were told to spread positive messages about trash and the people who work on it to the students. The program also had extremely exciting interactions between the audience and the speakers in the much-awaited Q&A section and the Minigame.

The talkshow emphasized the benefits of waste classification for the environment and replayed memorable moments of the entire campaign. The message has been conveyed about the seemingly small actions of separating food scraps, sorting plastic waste, and other types of trash to turn dirty trash into clean products that have great significance for our planet.

Dr. Dinh Tien Minh - Lecturer of Public Relations - had a few words about the talkshow and the Campaign: "I am pleased that you not only completed the subject but also created something meaningful for society. You know, when we change our awareness, we will change our attitude toward those issues. Just like in the PR subject, I once mentioned that when we know, it doesn’t mean that we understand; if we understand, it doesn’t mean that we believe, if we believe, it doesn’t mean that they will do it; if we do it, it doesn’t mean that we will keep doing it. That's why it is necessary to have activities that transition to another step, rather than achieving the goal in a day or two. Just like the talk show today being part of communication work, a part that will play the first role in changing people's perceptions. ”
