The UEH Green Campus project operates under the Living Lab model, providing an experimental environment to learn, to research and to apply green solutions to solve problems related to the environment and sustainable development. 71 research projects on the topic of sustainability conducted by UEH students in 2023 are effective products for these new approaches.

Living Lab, also known as Living Lab, is an open innovation ecosystem operated with a user-centered orientation, making optimal use of stakeholder connections, with the core element being integrating research-education and innovation to solve real life problems. Living Lab UEH Green Campus (LLGC) was built to solve environmental problems at UEH Campuses, combining training - research - operations - administration - community, aiming at shaping into a formula that other Units can receive and deploy.

Overview of UEH Green Campus Living Lab Project

In the period 2021-2025, LLGC sets out 5 important topic groups that need to be specifically researched, including: Behavior Change, Demand Change, Technical Issue, Circular Economy và Efficient Communication and Education Program. The expected output will be the practical solutions applied to solve problems at UEH own Campuses and capable of being replicated in other Units or larger scales. With the orientation of ‘empowering’ and encouraging innovation, UEH students have had opportunities to become trainee researchers to solve environmental and sustainability issues right during the study time at UEH. That is to recognize the meaning of the pillars of Global Citizen Training, Action for Sustainable Development and Research for the Community that UEH Multidisciplinary and Sustainable is pursuing.

The Technical issue topic is aimed at applying advanced technology and creative initiatives in building models and solutions.

The Efficient Communication and Education Program theme is a place to incubate and to promote the strong development of communication and educational programs.

The 71 research articles on the topic of sustainability are the result of UEH's annual scientific research activities Nhà nghiên cứu trẻ, UEH 500  which are oriented according to the topics set by LLGC. To be presented in further details:

Among them, some typical topics won the A Prize listed as “Proposing a sustainable supply chain model in the fashion sector in Vietnam” (Technical issue topic), “Intention to apply electric vehicles in Vietnam: Applying UTAUT2” (Behavior change), “Negative communication factors related to brands and emotions driving green purchase intention: Case study of Generation Z in Ho Chi Minh City” (Efficient Communication and Education Program).

Starting a new journey 2024: Launching the UEH Green Researcher Community - Researching, collaborating, sharing knowledge - towards a green campus and beyond

“UEH Green Researcher Community” launched in 2024 is an important initiative, promoting research, collaboration, and knowledge sharing between individuals, research groups and organizations. What the members have in common is their interest in LLGC’s issues, their desire to build a Green University campus, and more broadly, environmental protection and sustainable development.

By choosing research topics from LLGC’s 5 topic groups, students and learners can join the Green Researcher Community through UEH-level scientific research programs such as Young Researchers 2024, UEH 500 2024, Economic Events Commentary Series, SRAA (Scientific Research Student Award in Accounting - Auditing), KQM-AR (Scientific Research Practice Program from the Faculty of International Business - Marketing) and so on or register for research topics directly with the UEH Department of Learning - Scientific Research - International Relations via email ht-nckh@ueh.edu.vn

Accordingly, the benefits of joining the community are comprised of the following:

Receiving advice and companionship during the process of forming ideas, completing and publishing topics from the Project, UEH Sustainability Project Committee and specialized Faculties/Institutes;

In order to create maximum conditions for the development of the “UEH Green Researcher Community”, the special attention is provided to the special support mechanism and awards. Community members will be able to attend a scientific research methods class related to the topic Living lab, Green Campus. Beyond this, when the product meets standards, the research team will receive a Certificate from the UEH Sustainable University Project Board and a budget of approximately 700,000 - 1,000,000 VND for a qualified project.

UEH students are not only talented and enthusiastic individuals but also the pioneering generation in UEH University’s journey towards building a greener and more sustainable future. Students’ research efforts imply the way to help them change their awareness, thinking, and actions towards contributing and going further in solving environmental and social challenges. These advances not only benefit the community but also affirm UEH’s important role in contributing to sustainable development.
