Sustainable development does not stop at macro-level commitments but requires practical execution tools and transparent measurement. At University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), Generation Z is directly tackling climate change challenges through data-driven thinking and Green Tech solutions.

The university campus currently operates as an urban-scale "Living Lab". Through innovation spaces like Makerspace, Smart City StudioLab, and Robotic Lab, students are equipped with the foundational infrastructure to directly transform theoretical research into practical models.

Digitizing Consumer Behavior and Smart Waste Management Systems

The green transition at UEH is driven by a technological data system. Instead of generic guidelines, the UEH Green Campus ecosystem provides tools to control the waste sorting process at the source, such as the Zeen AI Scan recognition app, the Zeen AI Bot virtual assistant, and the automated i-VeChai Machine collection system. Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) helps automate material sorting, minimize human errors, and optimize the recovery rate of recyclable waste.

Notably, to foster community participation, UEH applies gamification through the Green Action System and the "Green Coins" reward platform. Every eco-friendly behavior (from correctly sorting waste to taking the stairs) is digitized and recorded via data. This platform not only encourages positive lifestyles but also helps the university accurately quantify the contribution of each "Green Citizen" towards the collective emission reduction goal.

Tech Startups: Intervening in Supply Chains and Meeting ESG Standards

The research capacity of learners is proven by impressive data: UEH students have conducted 3,878 scientific research projects, contributed 58 green initiatives, proposed 47 practical solutions, and successfully incubated over 100 innovative startup projects. These figures reflect a strong aspiration to apply technology in solving macroeconomic problems.

Specifically, at the "Gen Z & ESG: Promoting Sustainable Development 2026" competition, surpassing over 550 competing teams, UEH students introduced technological solutions that meet Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards:

Concurrently, a series of other applied research projects have been vigorously implemented by students, such as analyzing the crowd shipping model to reduce urban emissions, or studying ways to accelerate the transition to electric transportation through the Xanh SM service ecosystem.

The Intersection of Technology and Art (ArtTech) in Environmental Communication

Alongside technical solutions, Generation Z also applies technology to innovate ecological communication methods. The "Zeeniverse By U" design competition, attracting over 2,000 student participants, is a testament to this versatility. By combining digital design platforms with Augmented Reality (AR) technology, students have created a visually interactive space, spreading ecosystem protection messages in a modern and accessible way.

Environmental responsibility in the digital age demands quantitative capacity, technical calculation, and technological application. By mastering Green Tech, UEH's student generation is providing sharp empirical solutions, contributing to creating a sustainable future built on a foundation of data science.
