After nearly 50 years of establishment, formation, and development, UEH has set their goal to become a multidisciplinary university with a focus on sustainability and environmental management. The university is also committed to playing a significant role in influencing and changing the mindset, awareness, and actions of the community while spreading positive values to society.

A LOOK BACK AT UEH’S JOURNEY TO BECOME THE GREEN CAMPUS

In 2021, UEH proposed and researched green initiatives, launching the podcast series "Rethink and Be Green" and unveiling the music video "UEH Green Citizens." Subsequently, UEH transformed the green trash bins into the UEH Green Station, an innovative step in waste management. Concurrently, the university implemented regulations aimed at promoting a green lifestyle within the community. Notably, UEH has placed emphasis on connecting the community and enhancing two-way communication, empowering students to actively participate in environmental programs. This journey has been and continues to be a key factor in transforming UEH into a proud green campus.

PRACTICING 3R - CHANGING TO BECOME GREEN CITIZENS

With the theme "Time for Go Green" for 2023, UEH aims to promote a green and healthy lifestyle that benefits both personal well-being and the environment among all UEHers. The 3R practice refers to three key concepts often associated with waste reduction: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

The practice of 3R encourages change, empowering individuals to become responsible green citizens.

LIVING GREEN SIMPLY THROUGH SMALL TIPS

In this week’s edition of the Green Living Tips series, let's join the "GREEN UP" project in simplifying the ways to build a “Green University” for students. No grand actions are required - what students can contribute to a “Green University” is simply being mindful. To create a truly green environment, we need to take practical actions, from reducing waste, reusing items, to recycling effectively and scientifically.

The "GREEN UP" project aims to share green living tips with students.

WHY MUST WE PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT NOW?

Did you know that, according to NOAA statistics, Earth’s temperature in 2023 was 1.18°C hotter than the pre-industrial era? If global warming reaches or exceeds 1.5°C, natural systems will cross a dangerous threshold, leading to irreversible consequences.

We only have 250 billion tons of CO₂ left to emit before reaching this critical limit, yet the world is already emitting 40 billion tons per year.

We must act now - before it’s too late!
---------------------------------------

UEH Green Campus - Green Monday Series “Monday to be better and greener” is part of the UEH Green Campus project, sharing the latest, most interesting, and important updates on the environment, sustainable living, and UEH’s Green University policies. Our goal is to build a community that works together for a greener university in every aspect.

“It’s time to go green” - If you’re unsure where to start your green journey, begin with Monday - every week!
