University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and Vingroup's For the Green Future Foundation have officially partnered to launch the "Let's Green Unitour" program. This initiative is designed to disseminate the green university model to 10 higher education institutions across Vietnam, grounded in the belief that "green and sustainable action begins with educating and inspiring students - the future leaders of our global community."

Let's Green Unitour: An Initiative to Support the Green Transition of 10 Vietnamese Universities

"Let's Green Unitour" is an offshoot of the UEH Green Campus project, part of UEH's transformation into a green university. It is also a component of the "Green Semester - Building a Green Community" Campaign by Vingroup's For the Green Future Foundation, which partners with educational institutions to organize practical events that raise environmental awareness and promote positive behavioral changes.

Drawing on the successes and challenges addressed during the three-year implementation of the Green University model at UEH, "Let's Green Unitour" serves as a platform to inspire and support other Vietnamese universities in their transition to a green model, thereby fostering a network of Green Universities in Vietnam and enhancing students' environmental consciousness and actions. In 2025, with the partnership of Vingroup's For the Green Future Foundation, the project will expand its scale to reach 10 universities and colleges in HCMC, with the goal of collecting 2 to 5 tons of recyclable waste to be transformed into new products with a new life cycle.

Specifically, the "tours" will introduce and provide an immersive experience of the green university model through four interactive and exhibition zones:

Zone 1 - A Comprehensive Experience of the Green University Ecosystem. Students will have the opportunity to explore and experience a full range of tools that support green knowledge and practices, including the "I, a Green Citizen" Handbook, the "Sustainable Development" course, the Green Campus Game simulation, green university regulations, a closed-loop waste sorting and recycling model, the Zeen AI Scan (an AI-powered waste sorting tool), the i Ve Chai automated recycling machine, the Green Researcher Community program, green transportation initiatives, and green energy models.

Zone 2 - Showcasing the On-Campus Recycling Model and Green Volunteer Team. Participating universities will receive knowledge transfer from UEH on operating the "Go Green Station," a closed-loop waste sorting model. This includes the 3 and 7 category source separation models, green university regulations, the recycling lifecycle, the Green Volunteer team, and the Zeen AI Scan technology.

Zone 3 - Experiencing Sustainable Products from Green Enterprises. Green businesses will showcase products made from recycled materials and host workshops to help students learn about sustainable lifestyles and create their own eco-friendly products.

Zone 4 - Exchange Waste for Gifts. Finally, students can participate in activities to exchange waste for gifts and recycled products, gaining a deeper understanding of the circular economy and witnessing how waste can become a valuable input for green enterprises. This zone aims to collect at least 200kg to 500kg of recyclable waste per event.

Following each event, a team of Green University experts will work with the leadership of the host university to share detailed strategies for implementing a long-term, sustainable Green University model and to transfer project-related products.

"Let's Green Unitour" - An Initiative of the UEH Green Campus Project

"Let's Green Unitour" is a key initiative of the UEH Green Campus project, which was spearheaded by UEH in 2021 in tandem with its Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University strategy. UEH is the first university in Vietnam to systematically operate a Green University model based on the practices of leading global universities.

Operating under a Living Lab model, the UEH Green Campus project addresses environmental issues across UEH's 13 campuses in HCMC and its two branches in Vinh Long and Nha Trang. It employs a user-centric approach, leveraging stakeholder engagement to integrate the knowledge, principles, and exemplary actions of a green university into five strategic pillars: Training, Research, Operations, Governance, and Community. Over three years of active implementation, the project has successfully diverted 6.4 tons of recyclable waste for reprocessing into new products. Furthermore, it has raised awareness of the Green University Regulations and the 3R (Reduce - Reuse - Recycle) principles among 90% of staff and learners. Additionally, over 70 scientific research papers with 47 detailed solutions and initiatives have been proposed by students and faculty to address challenges within the Living Lab. Nearly 58 programs and events have been organized by UEH units to promote a green lifestyle, engaging over 10,000 learners and staff. "Let's Green Unitour" - A Component of Vingroup's "Green Semester - Building a Green Community" Campaign

"Green Semester - Building a Green Community" is the latest initiative from Vingroup's For the Green Future Foundation, partnering with educational organizations to host practical educational events. The campaign aims to raise community awareness of environmental protection, climate action, and sustainable economic development, thereby fostering positive changes in individual behavior.

Established on July 7, 2023, with a mission to pioneer the implementation of Vietnamese government programs, the For the Green Future Foundation has been executing projects and action plans for sustainable development. Key campaigns include: partnering with over 7,000 students from 30 universities to implement the "Green Summer" campaign across 13 provinces, creating meaningful community projects that improved the lives of approximately 30,000 people; collaborating with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to organize the Vietnam ASEAN Eco-School Award 2024, honoring 49 schools for their outstanding environmental education activities; and launching the "Green Voice" debate competition, which attracted nearly 4,000 applications from over 6,000 high school students in 61/63 provinces, promoting youth-led initiatives for global green action and lifestyles.

The partnership between University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and Vingroup through the "Let's Green Unitour" program is expected to successfully establish a nationwide network of Green Universities, collectively promoting a green spirit and lifestyle for a sustainable and prosperous future!
