Continuing the steady transformation from UEH Zero Waste Campus (2021-2022) to UEH Green Campus Living Lab (2024), in 2025, UEH Green Campus officially launches a new step: raising awareness of emission reduction towards a green culture and a happy university. #GreenCulture: "Living in Harmony with Nature".
#GreenCulture: Living in Harmony with Nature" - The guiding principle of all UEH units on the journey to build a green culture by 2025
With the goal of creating cohesion and unity in all activities on the green journey, UEH strives to build a common voice with the message #GreenCulture: "Living in Harmony with Nature". Accordingly, training, research, administration, operation, and community connection of UEH Green Campus Living Lab aim to build #GreenCulture, a sustainable green UEH culture. Every action of UEHer is adjusted through a green lens: every small action can impact nature - UEHer does not "choose" but "decides" to live green.
2025 - Emission Awareness: Understanding correctly to act and laying the foundation for the journey towards building the UEH Carbon Neutral Campus
2024 is a successful year for the UEH Green Campus project with proud achievements of 6.4 tons of recycled waste, 470,000 kWh of solar power produced, and 6 products launched.
Following these impressive results, in 2025, the project will focus on “Emissions Awareness”, aiming at the goal of a UEH Neutral Carbon Campus. Activities will focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, expanding recycling, optimizing renewable energy, and developing more green products, creating a solid foundation for a sustainable UEH. To realize these goals, UEH will deploy a series of specific and practical solutions.
One key solution is to continue optimizing the Green University model, comprehensively upgrading 10 core areas:
- Efficient energy management and use: Promoting energy saving solutions, expanding the scale of renewable energy application, and enhancing energy consumption monitoring to optimize efficiency;
- Resource, landscape & biodiversity management: Expanding green spaces, preserving and developing the UEH ecosystem to maintain a healthy learning environment;
- Waste management: Strengthening source separation solutions, expanding recycling models, and raising public awareness in waste reduction;
- Emissions Management: Developing a comprehensive emissions reduction plan, measuring and auditing emissions to move towards the UEH Neutral Carbon Campus goal;
- Traffic and transportation management: Promoting the use of UEH Shuttle Bus, encouraging switching to green transportation and physical activity using stairs on UEH campus;
- Purchasing management: Developing a sustainable purchasing policy, prioritizing environmentally friendly products;
- Food Service Management: Promoting green menus, reducing food waste, and enhancing sustainable service solutions in UEH cafeteria;
- Managing Disability Support Services: Improving infrastructure, ensuring accessibility, and enhancing the learning experience for all students;
- Occupational safety and health management: Building a safe learning and working environment, ensuring physical and mental health for lecturers and students;
- Managing inequality and equity: Promoting equity in access to education, creating inclusive, non-discriminatory learning environments, and supporting disadvantaged groups.
To achieve the UEH Neutral Carbon Campus goal, the UEH Green Campus project will focus on raising awareness of emissions through the following solutions:
- Launching Handbook Volume 2: "Me - A UEHer Citizen Committed to Reducing Emissions" - A practical guide to help UEHers adopt a green lifestyle, from reducing energy consumption and waste to choosing sustainable transportation;
- Multi-platform communications campaign - Communications series such as “Green Monday”, “101 Things About Green Universities”, and the upcoming “Neutral Carbon” series are all aimed at raising awareness of emissions among learners;
- Gamifying the learning experience - Updating UEH Green Campus Game with new content on emissions and carbon neutrality.
Along with optimizing Green University, UEH also aims for the Happy University model, where each UEHer not only studies but is also inspired and develops comprehensively in terms of intelligence, spirit, and health.
To achieve the UEH Neutral Carbon Campus goal, the implementation of the solutions requires close coordination between stakeholders, under the leadership of the UEH Board of Management, especially the Sustainable University Project Board. This is the core force in strategic planning, coordinating actions and monitoring implementation progress. In particular, the synchronous and active participation of the permanent members of the UEH Green Campus Project, the Department of Communications and Partnerships, the Department of Student Affairs, the Department of Infrastructure Management, the Youth Union - Student Association, along with member colleges, UEH Mekong and affiliated Schools and Institutes play a key role in realizing the emission reduction roadmap.
UEH Green Campus 2025 has officially launched, opening a new journey full of determination with the goal of building a UEH Carbon Neutral Campus. This journey is not only an inheritance of past efforts but also a strong call for each UEHer to act together to spread #GreenCulture: "Living in Harmony with Nature".

About UEH Green Campus Living Lab
Living Lab, or “living laboratory”, is a co-creation ecosystem connecting stakeholders, focusing on learners, where innovative ideas and solutions are tested in real-life environments. Living Lab UEH Green Campus is built on a set of practical solutions revolving around 5 strategic pillars (Training, Research, Administration, Operation, Community) with the aim of solving environmental problems towards a green, happy, and sustainable university.
#GreenCulture: "Living in Harmony with Nature" - This is not only a slogan, but also a guideline for 2025 of all UEH units, associated with the goal of creating a green university environment where people and nature develop together sustainably.
