The 3R Practice Principle – Changing to Become a Green Citizen

https://youtu.be/nOPuby18p8g

The 3R practice refers to three commonly used terms associated with waste reduction: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Specifically:

- Reduce: Cutting down on the amount of waste generated by each individual.

- Reuse: Finding ways to repurpose waste instead of discarding it.

- Recycle: Creating new uses for waste to produce new products that serve daily life.

With the message “Time for Go Green” in 2023, UEH aims to spread the habit of green living, promoting a healthy lifestyle beneficial for both personal well-being and the environment to all UEHers.

Reduce:

One of the major challenges of the 21st century is combating the culture of fast and convenient consumption. Many products are designed for single use, quickly discarded into trash bins, and eventually ending up in landfills. This highlights that the issue isn’t just about purchasing products it’s about learning to reduce wasteful consumption habits at home, workplaces, and schools to create a cleaner, greener environment.

UEH seeks to empower UEHers to take action and become green citizens by practicing Reduce the first "R" in the 3R principles as we collectively work towards adopting a sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyle.

Reuse:

Schools are among the places that generate a significant amount of waste. Recognizing this, UEH has implemented the second "R" in the 3R practice principle: Reuse. This initiative aims to minimize waste output, extend the lifespan of products, and enhance their value. Though this may seem like a small step, it plays a crucial role in waste management, encouraging UEHers to adopt and practice a green lifestyle within the campus.

Recycle:

Natural resources are being depleted, and landfills are filling up at an increasingly rapid rate. Our current system of production, consumption, and disposal have become unsustainable. In addition to reducing the amount of waste generated and reusing existing materials, recycling is another key method to regenerate resources and minimize the need for raw material extraction. Recycling is the final "R" in the 3R practice principle that UEH wishes to share with everyone. It represents actions we can take today to recycle our belongings and contribute to building a Green Campus.

Recycling is the final "R" in the 3R practice principles that UEH wishes to share with you, along with actions UEHers can take starting today to recycle their items and contribute to building a Green Campus.

Recycled waste that is properly sorted at the Green Practice Stations (UEH Go Green Stations) will be directly connected to recycling partners by UEH and sent for processing.
